I going to take the time to familiarize myself with the other awardees’ blogs and hope you can do the same. :)

So, part of the deal on winning besides being a gracious recipient, link back to the person who gave me the award, share 7 things about myself, pay it forward to 15 recently discovered bloggers, and share the news with them. ;)

My 7 ditties:

1.   I love shoes.
2.   I REALLY love shoes.

Vicky ‘Cristina’ Barcelona

It was time to for me to replace my classic black high heeled boots.  It is always such a dreaded chore to hunt for those fantastically classic black boots that can go from work to play to what happens after play. ;)  It also just so happened that one of my readers was asking for help finding a great pair of boots.  So, in searching for her (and me) I came across these ‘Cristina’ black platform boots and literally swooned.
Shopping for boots online can be a bit tricky.  Probably the most important thing and first thing to check is the circumference.  Measure your calf at the widest part to find out how big you need the circumference to be.  Take into consideration the material of the boot.  These have super soft satiny material on the inside which is a hint that the leather will not likely stretch too much.  So if your calf is larger than the 15” circumference of this boot, this is not the boot for you.  These also run small on the circumference end so unless you are ok with dealing with a higher likelihood of returning them, it may not be worth the hassle.

When I got them, my first thought was that they were sooo soft.  My second thought was that they were kinda heavy.  It worried me that they were going to be too heavy to run around in all day and night.  I tried them on and they felt rather delicious.  The fit was almost perfection.  They were a little snug getting them zipped up that first time.  But, once that zipper was up and I looked in the mirror, my thoughts were, THESE ARE HOT!  I figured it was worth dealing with them if they were going to be too heavy.

I’ve worn them to just about every holiday event between Thanksgiving and New Years, including my New Year’s Eve celebrating.  The weight of the boot has no impact on the comfort or wearability.  The stacked heel is phenomenal on this boot.  For being on the higher side with a 4” heel and ¾” platform, walking in these boots is seriously effortless.  The tapered stacked heel gives you great balance.  What makes this boot sensational is the rubber sole that gives you unexpected, but very welcomed, added stability.

The Graphite Suede
The round toe of the boot and simple design that is the CK signature, make these boots really sophisticated. The great padding on the inside sole cushion the ball of your foot so that you can prance The slight upturn of the toe make it modern which help take you from day to night with enough sexy that you’re both Vicky and Cristina and hotter than Barcelona in August all year round. ;)

New Year, New Job, New Kicks!

The start of a new year inspires us to think about what we want from ourselves and our lives.  We think about where we want to be and how we need to get there.  Usually, that means getting a new gig.  And to land that new gig, you’re gonna need to rock that interview.  Now, while most offices have evolved into a more business casual environment, interviews are still the place where you’d rather be a little overdressed than underdressed.  And while you’re dusting off your resume and getting that fab suit to the cleaners, you need to actually pay attention to your shoes.

It’s usually an afterthought for most people and it shouldn’t be.  The reason is that little details like your accessories, your shoes in particular, really are that little something that pull you together as the total and complete package.  That’s why picking the right shoes can really help you.

I found these ‘Leisure’ pumps by L.A.M.B. that are really fantastic.  A closed toe is a must for a formal interview.  You may not be a high heel kinda gal, but this is where pain is gain.  Go as high as you can possibly go without looking like you’re in pain - a total wardrobe malfunction.  There are actual studies that show people associate trust and respect with height and taller people.  In this day in age, you gotta use whatever you can to LAND THAT JOB HUNEY! ;)  At 4 ½” with the 1” platform, these heels definitely fit the bill.

The style of the ‘Leisure’ is perfect for an interview suit ensemble.  They are black, which keeps the focus on you, but they have the suede texture that gives the shoe some detailing.  Basic black smooth pumps are always great, but these give you that neutral backdrop while still letting people know you’re a gal with spunk and chicness.  The square toe is timeless to last you through the seasons.  The suede details are not too much so that you’re calling attention to your shoes, rather than your endless superior skills.  This is probably my most favorite example of editing your outfit.  The right amount of that little “something extra” to distinguish you but in a very classy, sophisticated and professional way is just evidence supporting your case of why you’re the best one to rock it out and be the new member of the team.

Even after you get that new job, these kicks are going to be a great alternative to your basic pumps to mix up that working girl wardrobe.  This makes the higher $295 price tag a little less hard to swallow.  They may be called ‘Leisure’ but are really more of a work investment.

If you’re in need of some prepping, these are some helpful interviewing tips at TheLadders.com.  They also had some great advice for anyone who wants to get farther in their current career.   Good luck my ladies!  Happy new year!
